Miley Cyrus
This photo was taken in October 2006 when our family met Miley Cyrus and her family in Seaside, Florida. Hands down, best day of my daughter’s life. When we met Miley, she was famous among young people, but not quite the international superstar she is now. (Even my mom now knows who Miley is and that’s really saying something! ) Since my daughter thought she was the coolest thing ever, I casually started paying attention to stuff I’d hear about her. After all, I think it’s important to know something about the people your kids are looking up to.
Lately there’s been some negative publicity surrounding this particular teenager. In fact, today my brother sent me a youtube clip about Miley. It was a slideshow that some random person put together trying to prove that Miley was a slut. The only reason I watched is that my brother said MY DAUGHTER’S photo was in the slideshow (yes, the photo above)! Are you kidding me?! Look at this picture and tell me what is so slutty about it! My God, the girl was at the beach and wore a bikini – Heaven forbid! The other pictures in this youtube slideshow were just as “bad” – basically just some teenage girls being goofy with the camera. I’m so sick of how judgemental people are towards her. I personally think it all boils down to jealousy of her success. Miley herself was quoted by People magazine as saying “this” (media attempting to portray her as a slut) was all an attack of the devil. I have to agree. We finally have this awesome role model for our kids and people just want to tear her apart and believe the worst about her. I say, give the girl a break already! What ever happened to believing the best about people?
I totally agree with you – people keep saying she’s the next Britney. All that “sex” bottled up in a 14-yr-old. Bla bla bla! The difference? Miley actually has a great head on her shoulders and her dad is right there with her every step of the way. She might be a 14-yr-old “Boy Crazy” girl but what girl isn’t at 14?! She is so open about her convictions and her “relationship with Jesus Christ” people just need to give her a break. Just because she’s so famous doesn’t mean she’s going to end up like the rest of those raunchy used-to-be “tween” pop stars.
As for the binkini? People are just looking for a reason to take a jab.

third…she’s no slut. I’m pretty sure Jamie Lynn Spears wins the teenage slut award this year, so all the other teenage stars can relax.

THEY’RE ALL JUST JEALOUS! And I will continue to believe the best about her, unless it all ends up as a slap in the face one day. Otherwise, shut your pie holes, people!!! lol

Yes, totally innappropriate. She should have been at least 18, (even though at 18, you’re STILL a child), too immature to make these decisions. My husband is an artist, and I dive into it a bit myself, but publishing pictures considered “art” with a 15 yr. old posing 1/2 nude is inappropriate, period. There is a VERY fine line there! It’s running real close to child pornography, and kids in this generation, especially those as child stars, are typically growing up too fast. Miley Cyrus is a Christian, as are her parents, very strong in their faith, so this comes as a disappointment. Nevertheless, live and learn….
And let’s not use this to badger her, or them, for making the mistake. I truly believe in the great things Miley can accomplish in her life, as long as she and her parents don’t let “fame” and the so-called glamour that comes with it, corrupt the positive image they have tried to create.
OMGG! i met Miley on October 8, 2006 in Seaside, FL too!!!!! I’ve seen this picture before and freaked out!! She was sooo sweet! She was at the bike place across from where you were!
