Personality Types
August 29, 2008
I subscribe to Kathy’s blog and when I saw her post today, I couldn’t help but go take the Keirsey personality test. I was not at all surprised by my results. I fall into the category of Idealists, specifically Teacher/Giver (ENFJ). It was a bit weird reading the two expanded descriptions, because it was like someone wrote them about me! How is it possible for a 72-question test to be so accurate?

Inspector?? I read it and it was weird, but it sounded right.
I’ve taken that a few different times. The results differ slightly each time, but generally boil down to “I’m a socially awkward but hardworking and introspective problem solver who doesn’t get out much.”
Which is mostly right, of course.
I got a B-
I too am an ENFJ…. crazy I know!
Sam, you’re hilarious!
I took this test about 4 years ago in a college class and I believe that I was INTJ…. just took it again; still INTJ.
I actually find this test fascinating in that it manages to statistically place all personality types quite accurately into 16 categories, but still gives a quantitative side; it is possible to be borderline between multiple categories. So it is possible to be more ENFJ than someone else.
I’m apparently like Mother Teresa…hmmmm.
INTJ. I take this sort of test every now and then to see if I’ve changed, but I never do. It’s a weird personality type to filter through an artist, but as much as I love and value creativity, that “artisan” category does NOT fit me. INTJs are less than one percent of the population. I always used to wonder why it seemed nobody understood me. Now I know–it’s because nobody does!
I’m an ENTJ or “field marshal”.
This particular part of the description is so freakishly me that it’s downright scary… my poor children.
“They are ever intent on reducing bureaucratic red tape, task redundancy, and aimless confusion in the workplace, and they are willing to dismiss employees who cannot get with the program and increase their efficiency. Although Fieldmarshals are tolerant of established procedures, they can and will abandon any procedure when it can be shown to be ineffective in accomplishing its goal. Fieldmarshals root out and reject ineffectiveness and inefficiency, and are impatient with repetition of error.”
I too have taken this a few times previous. I’ve always been an ENFP. Something changed somewhere in the last year or so. Hmm.

You DID bump by readership by at least a million. Thank you! Those tests are fun, mine said I was a “nurturer” and for the most part it was right on. Fun stuff!
INFJ-”The Protector” …1% of the population has this personality type, making it the rarist. Interesting…
