6th Grade: A Comparison
For most girls, sixth grade is an awkward year. It’s up for debate on which year was my worst: sixth or seventh grade. You know that saying “a face only a mother could love?” Well, I’m not sure if that was applicable to my life. I’m pretty sure even my mom cringed when she saw me. Because I don’t want to be accused of lying or exaggerating, and against my better judgment, I’m releasing a photo to prove my point. Grab a barf bag and get ready to blow chunks. This is my sixth grade school photo:

Stop laughing! You think you’re so cool? Why don’t you bust out some of your middle school pictures, fancy pants? Yeah, that’s what I thought! What-ev. You’re just jealous of my bangs and glasses.
As mentioned, for most girls, sixth grade is an awkward year. My sweet daughter is the exception to the rule. She brought home her school picture order form Friday (that would explain the “style A” on her photo). She’s a hot little tamale! I wasn’t sure if I was a bit jealous or just in awe! The girl is blessed. And the best part? She’s just as beautiful on the inside. Mama is proud.

Oh my…I used to wear big glasses too at that age. Taylor looks beautiful!
Taylor looks exactly like you! But a gorgeous version. Not that you’re not gorgeous. You know what I mean.
Whoa. I had clear plastic glasses too, but NEVER did my bangs like that. Taylor is beautiful
Evan, you’re much younger than me. That would explain the lack of the Big Bang Reality!
Your sweater looks like an atari game. Rawk.
wow, lori! that is some picture. lol!
Yeah….I had some pics like that one too! Gotta love the style! Woo hoo.
Lori, that’s hilarious and scary at the same time. You’re such a brave woman to post that picture of yourself! Taylor is such a gem.
You are always telling me how I am SO MUCH younger than you… I think it’s only 3 or 4 years! GET OVER IT!
Evan, we’re 4 1/2 years apart, which means when I was doing the big bangs, you had just turned 7. You were lucky to have missed that era, if only by a few years!
Oh man she IS beautiful…but you two look a lot of like…I think with a little work you could have been pretty cute.
Your picture is priceless though. Why were we all so ugly!?!
ps I just watched the 99 balloons video…and yes…the tears are a flowin. The whole time I was all “oh please don’t die…please don’t.” So sad. My heart is breaking for Eliot’s parents…
Thanks, Kathy! See, if I hadn’t curled my bangs and if I had contacts rather than glasses, I would have had potential! I think my parents wanted me to be ugly so boys wouldn’t be interested. Ha!
Monica, I was so happy to see a non-political comment from you! What a relief! Woo-hoo!
Taylor has absolutely gorgeous skin! I don’t know her, but I can tell she has a sweet spirit. No wonder you’re proud.
Wow! Lori! Taylor looks amazing! She is awesome on the inside too, I know you’re proud. Call me.
I SOOOOOO have one of those pictures lol but I don’t have the guts to post it anywhere!
Girl-WHAT???? Are you SURE that is you!! Yes, Taylor is all grown up( and very pretty) from how I remember her:)
Don’t worry. At one point, I had permed bangs like you, too.
What is it with the kids today?!?! I swear, they have no awkward phases what-so-ever. They are all just gorgeous. Come on! Awkward phases build character!
I like this one too…Tay is such a beauty. It isn’t that you weren’t, I think it was just a combination of era and bad fashin sense in general…no offense to your mom. I can’t imagin you and her at the eyeware store and agreeing that these were “the” pair? The hair cut is interesting too…You have certainly blossomed since, and then some!
I remember that picture and that year…you were my best friend then.
Oh… Ohhhhhh Ohhhhhhhhhhhh lordy. That needs to be sent in to Ellen.
That picture of you is so sad. I had several bad ones so don’t feel too bad. Most of my worst ones were when I was younger so I think I’ve improved with age. Your daughter is beautiful!
