Commitment and Generosity

September 28, 2008

Paul Newman died on Friday, September 26th. Other than the fact he was one of the hottest celebrities ever (back in day, anyway), there are two reasons I have a lot of respect for him. First, his commitment. Although his first marriage ended in divorce, he was married to his second wife for 50 years. Not only is that admirable in a country where divorce is so common, it’s nothing short of a miracle in Hollywood! Second, his generosity. You already know how I feel about giving and Newman set the bar pretty high in that area. A well-known philanthropist, he donated $250 million to charities. That’s amazing! The country has lost a fine role model, but I have no doubt his legacy will live on.

If I were 50 years older, I would have married him.
