Chase ‘N Sky

December 4, 2008

I’ve had a subscription to Coastal Living magazine for several years. A year ago, I was looking through the Jan-Feb 2008 issue and came to page 42. There was a photo of a family along with an article about a girls’ clothing company the lady started.

My first thought when I looked at the photo was, “Huh… that’s weird. She looks so familiar.” As I started reading the article, I noticed her name was Lindsey O’Neill Myers. “Lindsey O’Neill” sounded familiar, too, but I couldn’t quite put my finger on why. A little further in the article, I read that her mom visited her from Oregon. Suddenly, it clicked! I DID know her!

I found Lindsey’s email address on her web site. In my email to her, I explained that I either knew her or these were really odd coincidences. See, back in 5th grade I got a pen pal through Teen magazine. We wrote back and forth throughout 5th, 6th, and 7th grade, then lost touch when I moved from Illinois to Florida the summer before 8th grade. I hadn’t seen a photo of her for nearly two decades, yet I recognized her in the magazine.

Lindsey replied to my email and it was indeed her! We hadn’t been in contact for 17 years! I’m absolutely amazed that we reconnected in such a random way. Unfortunately, our reconnection was short-lived and only consisted of a few emails. Still… pretty cool. And her clothing line is adorable! If you have a young daughter, you should totally check out Chase ‘N Sky (the company was named after her two daughters).

What’s really cool is that soon, you too will be gracing the pages of a national magazine and I would be willing to bet that old friends will be coming out of the woodwork. Just wait and see!
