Delivery Day
Many of you have been following the story of the family who lost everything in a fire a week ago today. (If not, catch up by reading part 1, part 2, and part 3 of the story.) Well, today was furniture delivery day and it was pretty awesome. In addition to having a home full of furniture and every household item needed, enough money was raised to pay their security deposit and first month’s rent, plus about $500 in gift cards. The word “blessed” doesn’t begin to describe how this family feels right now. Angela (the mom) couldn’t stop crying, laughing, and thanking us. But you know, it’s not us, but God working through people. God is more than able and willing to provide abundantly for all our needs, but He doesn’t send a check in the mail. He provides through people. We just happened to be the vessel this time. Thank you so very much to everyone who made donations. And a special thank you to those who helped deliver the furniture and other items today: Daniel, Mark, Tim, Dani, Andy, Scott, Harold, Teresa, Leah, and Lisa. We couldn’t have done it without you guys!

When the first round of furniture was delivered, Angela told our friend Daniel that it was her oldest daughter’s 12th birthday. He left and returned with a surprise birthday cake. Kaylynne was pretty excited!

Angela was moved to tears.

Tristian (age 10) enjoyed the cake.

McKenzie (age 5) was shy and stayed close to her mom.

This is as close to posing as McKenzie got. Her brother Braxton (age 6) wouldn’t pose at all! He was hiding.

Tristian didn’t mind posing. (I am loving this girl’s hair!)

Angela just kept on saying thank you.

The family, plus Angela’s significant other David:

The family with most of the people who helped move them into their new place. (Tim, Dani, Mark, Harold, and Teresa had already left by the time we had the idea to take a group picture.)

Awesome!
Oh Wow! I found your blog looking up a recipe…imagine my surpise when you talked about your friend Daniel. I went to school with Daniel (Choctaw)
I love seeing your pictures from the beach. I moved from FWB to Tx with my husband. It’s been 2+years since I’ve been home, and I miss it soooo much!
I love reading about the adventures you have back ‘home’
This is awesome Lori, thanks for sharing!
Lori, that’s fantastic! Thanks so much for posting pics! (You actually -finally- look pregnant in this pic!) :O)
What a wonderful ending to a tragic situation.
Wow that’s awesome!! I love hearing stories about people coming together to help one another!!
This is awesome and it’s a great to see God’s children in action. This brought me to tears.
I have to say, the first picture of McKenzie, next to her Mom….I really love that. She is so innocent and child-like (I know, I know she’s a child), but it’s just a calming picture. I love it.
Oh my gosh!!
Do you and Taylor remember Kaylynne was in Taylor’s class in 2nd grade? I had no idea it was them. They look very happy. Will you please send me their address? Thank you.
How WONDERFUL! I still have clothes in my car I need to get to you.
