A Long Wait

January 24, 2009

“Take delight in the Lord, and He will give you your heart’s desires.” Psalm 37:4

I met Esther when she was 24. Over the past four years, she patiently watched as her friends got engaged and then married. While still young by some people’s standards, she started feeling like, “When, God? When me? When is it my turn?”

While the media will have you believe that you have the freedom to do as you please and that having sex with who you want, when you want, is your right as a woman, this wasn’t the case for Esther. You see, she’s rare in today’s society. Holding onto the promise of God’s best for her, she saved herself for her husband.

God honored her commitment to wait and, as Esther knew He would in His perfect timing, brought her husband to her. Like Esther, Dave is a musician who loves the Lord. For as uptight as Esther can be, Dave is equally as chill. They balance each other perfectly.

At their wedding ceremony today, there weren’t many dry eyes. As our pastor spoke of Esther giving her husband the best gift any wife could give, I was so proud of her for waiting. I know those 28 years weren’t easy, but I also know that God will bless their marriage abundantly. There’s nothing quite as beautiful as watching a virgin smile at her new husband and listening as she promises to love him forever.

Congratulations, Dave & Esther!

God has destined these two and it clearly shows in their faces! You don’t find young ladies these days that have made a committment to God and themselves to save themselves for their husband, whenever that day may come.Esther is the kind of woman we have prayed for that our wonderful grandson would find one day and the Lord listens to prayer from the heart! May they always love and respect one another as they do now and forever! We love you both so much!

2nd fav post. I do love Esther and Dave and am so happy for the two of them. Because I was not a virgin on my wedding day I feel it may be difficult to really explain to Selah what the benefits of saving it can be. I am glad to know someone who did it, and hope my daughter will be equally inspired by her choice. Also, great pics Lor.

My Favorite Post #1….Not only is it because it’s about me and Dave, but you truly captured the beauty of that special day, both in words and in pictures!
