Date Night

February 21, 2009

What is it about the word “monthly” that makes me think of periods? And what is it about the word “annual” that makes me think of pap smears? I don’t know and I don’t like it. Neither of those two things put a smile on my face. Moving right along…

While I do not have a monthly cycle at the present time due to being knocked up, we do have a monthly date night. The attendees vary from month to month, but it’s always fun. Last night at Harbor Docks was no exception. Good company, good food, good times.

Yours truly with Big Sexy. Thank God you can’t see how pale I am in this lighting. I miss my tan like the deserts miss the rain. Sincerely. Where are you, spring? Why can’t I find you? (Sung to the tune of “Where Are You, Christmas?” from Dr. Seuss’ How The Grinch Stole Christmas.) And kudos to me for slouching in every picture. My mother must be so proud.

Some couples opted to sit across from each other rather than next to each other. There are benefits to each, I suppose. If you’re across from your honey, you can play footsies and undress each other with your eyes. But if you’re next to your honey, you can cop a feel. I suppose the seating arrangement is revealing, in that case. Dani (pronounced “Donny”) is wearing the orange Abercrombie sweatshirt and is sitting across from his wife Carmen. Darlene is sitting across from her husband Eric, who decided to stuff his face at the very second I took the picture. Scott and Brittany are sitting next to each other and look suspicious. Graeme is sporting his Texas sweatshirt and obviously eyeballing his soon-to-be wife Christen (a month from today!), who is technically next to him, although slightly at an angle. So, analyze these couples, won’t you?

Graeme a.k.a. The G a.k.a. Texas a.k.a. Marty Culp a.k.a. Andy’s business partner.

Scott and Brittany. Friends. Neighbors. Business owners.

Graeme, Christen, and Eric. Why does The G appear scared? I know not, but it may have something to do with Eric inching closer to his woman. Christen wears her hair up with big hoop earrings. The result? Stunning. If I did it, the result would be utter dorkyness. Life isn’t fair, is it?

Why is Jeremy laughing so hard? Something about lightsabers, but I’m not going there. I know you want me to, but children read this blog. Sorry. Better luck next time. There are two things I will tell you about Jeremy, though. First, he doesn’t like sushi (blasphemy, I know). Second, see that chick next to him? That’s Melissa, both his ex-wife and soon-to-be wife. They are marrying for the second (and final) time a month from today. God bless them for their endurance and faith.

Mike and Lindsay. Andy and I graduated high school with Mike. We didn’t know him then, but we are getting to know him now. Better late than pregnant (unless, of course, you want to be pregnant).

Yoshi, my favorite little sushi chef ever. The guy? I have no idea. The lights in the back? The Destin Harbor. Life is good.

Oh, snap. Caught in the act of taking his picture. Is it just me, or does this guy look like he’s about to break out some killer karate moves on my face?

No, I did not take partake of the fruit of the vine. I prefer my baby to be born with all necessary limbs and organs, thank you.

Panhandle and Kaos. That’s how Andy “rolls.”

DAT x 2. Mine, all mine! Perfection wrapped in sticky rice.

p.s. – Happy birthday, Jeana! If only you would move back to Destin, you could join Date Night! Work on that, okay?

Loved this! That’s one hot date night. How fun! And why do I giggle pretty much any time I ever see a picture of Eric? Dunno but I like it, Darlene’s a lucky lady! Laughing and smiling builds t-cells!

Great recap of the night. We enjoyed the food and conversation – both ranging widely from conservitive to spicy. Top it off with a bonfire and smores, and you have another great shoreline lifegroup.

It was a very fun evening and you recapping it sounds even better!! Sorry we had to miss the smores – next time hopefully! Only you could relate pap smears and periods to dates and sushi – you crazy woman!

First of all, you crack me up. I thought the same thing about the sushi guy. Secondly, do t-cells make your face fat because I’m not gaining weight, but something is going on there?
Great night, even if my face was fat.

Darlene, you may think your face looked fat (which it did not), but your eye make-up looked amazing!!!
