The Harbor at Sunset
Last night we went over to Eric and Darlene’s home for a sunset boat ride and the perfect meal (grilled NY strip, grilled Italian sausage, roasted new potatoes with garlic and rosemary, Caesar salad, and tomatoes with balsamic vinegar… Lord have mercy).
Taylor and Nathan both had other plans with their friends, so we just had Noah with us. He was scared getting on the boat, but soon relaxed.

Note the vintage life jacket. It belonged to Eric and Darlene’s oldest son Harbor when he was this age.

Eric and Darlene are so wonderful. We love spending time with them. If anyone loves Destin as much (or more) than we do, it’s them.

We got out into the harbor at just the right time. The breeze was warm, you could hear the bands playing from the waterfront restaurants, and the sunset promised to be perfect.

You could not pay me ten million dollars to move away from Destin. God was showing off when He made this slice of paradise. Sometimes I imagine this is what Heaven will be like… only better… which in itself is unimaginable. I’m in awe that we have the privilege of living here. On nights like last night, it’s hard to believe that evil exists in this world. I take long, steady breaths and try to soak it all in.

Can you believe these straight-out-of-the-camera shots are so vibrant? I obviously re-sized them for my blog, but I didn’t adjust color or contrast. It really was this stunning!

We enjoyed hearing the live jazz music and watching the people mingle as we returned to the dock.

Even after the sun went down, it was beautiful. What a perfect evening.

Wow…that looked awesome. We had friends take us evening sailing on the bay a few times many years ago. It was incredible, and I miss it. I grew up with the Ohio River in my front yard, but we never boated and nobody we knew boated, either, so it’s a world that’s not all that familiar to me. But there is something so peaceful about being on the water at sunset…
Noah looks so much like you in the first one. The one of Darlene is the best photo of her I have ever seen! Awesome sunset. Great shots.
We love spending time with you guys because we can totally be ourselves AND you always make us laugh…even Andy.
Great food and friends and the PERFECT setting. good times.
I love Destin too. Too bad I live in the midwest. Far, far away.
This is why I drag the kids to the beach to watch the sunsets here. Truly a gift every night. THis town is a gift. It has changed our lives in so many ways.
I so miss living in the Destin area after looking at these beautiful pictures. There are beaches in the Tampa Bay area where I am, but nothing compares to the serenity of the beaches I found in Destin… I’m jealous
