A second chance.
On Memorial Day 2005, I received a call that my friend Wendy had lost her husband in Iraq. It was one of those phone calls where you want to accuse the messenger of lying. Surely they had the wrong information… right? Derek and Wendy’s son Logan hadn’t even celebrated his first birthday yet! Wendy couldn’t be a widow at the age of 27! Derek was supposed to return home the following week! As much as we didn’t want to believe it, we had to accept reality. His helicopter had gone down and there were no survivors.
Time passed. Healing took place. And, eventually, prayers were answered. God brought an amazing man named Todd into Wendy’s life. His friend had been killed with Derek, so he understood her loss. Wendy was able to fall in love again. Todd even treated Logan like a son. Their wedding was yesterday. Words can’t even express how happy I am for them!

i got chills reading this (the kind that are so intense that they hurt!). i am so happy for wendy, todd, & logan. thx for sharing the beautiful photos.
Awww, you’re gonna make me cry. Congratulations to Wendy, Todd and Logan.
