Happy birthday, Noah James!

July 26, 2009

Noah James will be two tomorrow! Whoever said the twos are terrible doesn’t know my sweet boy. He’s not terrible at all. He’s terrific!

His birthday lunch was at our house today. His grandparents (not all, but most) and his aunt Sarah came over for lasagna, one of Noah’s favorite meals.

As per usual, the picture taking started almost immediately. Sarah shared a preview with Taylor and GaGa (Andy’s mom).

“The human head weighs 8 pounds!” (Name that movie.) Nathan recently got glasses. He only needs them to see the board if he’s sitting in the back of the classroom, but they were free through our insurance, so we got them. He looks so dapper, doesn’t he? I mean, compared to some people in our family. Um, yeah.

Andy managed to make it into one picture.

So did Harold.

If you want to make a friend, share your soda with Noah. PaPa (Andy’s dad) knows this trick.

GaGa (my mom) got some serious baby sugar from Jonah. For two hours straight. She did not complain one bit.

Yack! What is it about white appliances that makes me dislike them? Maybe it’s because they don’t match my frig and dishwasher. Someone please give me $1,500 so I can replace perfectly good appliances for cosmetic reasons. Oh, and I realize I would look less like a corpse if I would wear eye make-up and lipstick. Tell me something I don’t know. And hey, how about those bra straps? Yep, I ooze class. My God, at least my hair wasn’t pulled back with a scrunchie.

Noah and Sarah shared deep, philosophical thoughts. And by that, I mean Noah babbled while throwing in the occasional “dog” or “Daddy” because he’s still not saying more than about 3-4 words.

Taylor tolerated the camera. This photo is proof that she’s beautiful even when she doesn’t spend an hour with the Chi.

Unlike his first birthday and last Christmas, Noah totally knew what to do with his gifts. Nathan eagerly watched.

How could you not love this kid? So sweet!

His favorite gift was from Mama and Daddy: the classic Cozy Coupe. Can you believe this toy has been popular since I was his age?! Incidentally, the 30th anniversary edition came with some bo-bo eyes. We opted to not put them on. We don’t want Noah looking like a dork, for realz.

Why does the tub of icing never completely cover the cake? It’s so annoying. I gave up trying a few years ago and skip the sides on purpose. I convince myself I’m going for the layered look. Otherwise, my OCD self will have a freak out attack. FYI, I considered not posting this picture. You know that saying, “Take a picture – it’ll last longer?” In this case, that saying is in reference to my cleavage, which will all but evaporate by this time next year. Enjoy!

Look at my well-mannered son eating with a fork! And his brother Nathan taking care of the Cozy Coupe while Noah eats! Angels.

I’m usually turned off by pictures of kids with food all over themselves, but this time I’m going to step outside of the box (a.k.a. my comfort zone) and share one last picture. Happy birthday, Noah James!
