Livin’ the dream, baby!
Today we met our friends Michael and Angela, plus their daughter Amber, at the beach. Actually, it wasn’t the “real” beach. It was “redneck beach,” which is the strip of sand under the bridge along the bay right at the Destin pass. During high tide, this area, which is across from Crab Island, is breathtaking. At low tide, not so much. It’s murky and looks like this:

That’s Noah, Taylor, and Amber.
I almost cried. We’ve been planning this day for about a month. I wanted it to be neon aqua and, instead, it looked like tea.
Then Noah, who has developed this “fear” thing the past few weeks, had a nervous breakdown every time a boat went by.

And Nathan made it his personal mission of the day to annoy Taylor and Amber, which was… annoying.

And the temperature was similar to that of a kiln, even in the shade. There was enough sweat under my lactating jugs to water my entire lawn.

Side note… aren’t Jonah’s moobs so precious?!

I was starting to feel a bit sorry for myself because my “perfect day” was being ruined by a whining 7-year-old, a crying 2-year-old, gallons of sweat, and tea-colored water.
But then… it was my turn to go on the waverunner with Angela. While the bay wasn’t looking so hot, the Gulf of Mexico was stunning… breathtaking… amazing… perfect… honestly, I can’t even come up with words that adequately describe the beauty we experienced today. Majestic comes to mind, actually. The water was completely flat and felt like a bath. It was so crystal clear that in 20 feet of water you could see the sand ripples below. There were dolphins frolicking next to us. It was awesome.
And of course I did not have my camera to capture this beauty.
However, my friend Heather just happened to be out on a boat today, at the very same spot as us on the waverunner, and she snapped these shots of her husband and son snorkeling:

And there it is: proof that I wasn’t exaggerating.
p.s. – Happy birthday, Leigh Ann and Matt!

Beautiful!! There’s definitely a reason they call it the Emerald Coast!!
I hate you.
The gulf was spectacular that day! I just wish we had found some sharks to chase!
*sigh* I could stare at that water all day, every day…
me, too, Heather! it never gets old!
Wow, that pic of you with the sunglasses and baby takes me back to when you were 13. Not that you’ve really changed (duh!), but you look (in this pic) exactly as you did the last time I saw you.
Oh, dear God. Kwana, please tell me I don’t look the same as I did at age 13. That’s not good.
