FIVE: it’s the new black
On March 2, I had a “feeling” while I was cleaning up the kitchen. After my “scare” in February, Andy had bought a 3-pack. Because why pee on one stick when you can pee on three? Just saying. Anyway…
I headed to the bathroom and peed on the stick (one of my most favorite things to do). As I peed, I thought to myself, “This is such a waste. I’m sure it’s going to be negative.” Much to my shock and disbelief, a faint plus sign appeared. {gasp} Having not used this particular brand before, I naturally assumed it was a false positive.
I called the expert, Amy, who has peed on no less than 524 sticks in her life. Some people check facebook as a hobby; Amy pees on sticks. I explained to homegirl that I had never used this brand before and surely she could confirm it was a false positive. She replied, “Oh my God, you’re so pregnant!” This, of course, caused me to break into a cold sweat and mutter profanity, breaking my 3+ week stretch of profanity-free dialogue. I repent. Anyway, we discussed how surely this would be my second girl, surely I would have female bookends, surely the baby girl quilt Amy made for me 3 weeks ago was prophetic. Yet, I believed these scenarios were hypothetical, because there was NO WAY.
Natural Family Planning (NFP) works, people. IT WORKS. There is actually only a small window of fertility each month. Avoid it, and you’re good. BUT THEN IT HIT ME. The Night came flooding back to me. Want details? Not going to happen. But I can assure you, unless it’s an act of God (i.e. – Mary was a virgin, yet had Jesus), NFP works… unless there is human error, which I can assure you there WAS. For the record, this is 100% Andy’s fault. And that’s all I’m going to say about THAT.
Two of the three tests were now gone, but one remained. So why not? On March 3, the positive sign was much stronger.
I have since come to grips with reality. November 7 is the due date. However, I’ve been early four times and October 22 is a full moon, so we’ll just see what happens.

I SO want you to have a girl, but if you don’t… you have all the clothes AND bunk beds for the boys. BTW … How is Taylor holding up? Has she packed her bags yet?!
Nice. Because everyone deserves to have THAT mental image today.
I’m still really excited about this!
whoo hoo!
YAY! I will be praying that we BOTH have girls this time around. I am about to have to start wearing maternity clothes already….seriously!?! We are going to be down April 16-25th, gonna try to hit up Shoreline on the 18th–hopefully we won’t miss each other this time!
Lori!!!! So excited for you!
I understand how our God made our bodies to work and how important for us to know how the Almighty has created us; but, I believe He planned this new life long before He spoke the light in to existance. God is never surprised. How could He be?
Now, we on the other hand, we’re delightfully surprised! How wonderful! We’re so excited for you guys! We will be glad to come down and kid-sit any time you and Andy need a break!
Oh, and, could we have some of your water, please?
FIVE kids!?!?! I’m over here debating whether or not to add a DOG to the mix and you’re popping out a FIFTH kid??
WOOOHOOOOO!!!!! You go girl! This is so exciting….I can’t believe you’re pregnant again!
October 22 is Sydney’s birthday! What a great gift! A pink baby to hold! ; )
BTW-isn’t it ALWAYS the husband’s fault when the wife gets pregnant? Or at least it SHOULD be! LOL
I was so confused by your text. How could I have been? I’m so excited for you! Love you all, all 5 like I knew there’d be. xoxox
