Third birthday. Or anniversary?

April 17, 2011

Three years ago, I started this blog. So, today is either my blog’s birthday or anniversary. I use those words interchangeably in regards to my blog, because I’m not sure which is correct. Anyway…

I’d like to say that in honor of Seriously Because’s third birthday/anniversary, I’m offering a 5-day, all expense paid vacation to Destin. But if I said that, I’d be lying. Maybe one day I’ll sell ad space and make money off this little hobby, and then I can actually have cool contests with fabulous prizes.

Speaking of blogs, I currently subscribe to 109. I’m so thankful that most people don’t post every day! If they did, I could never keep up.

How many blogs do you subscribe to? Which are your five favorites?

It’s a bit difficult to narrow it down to my five favorites. For my list, I’m going to use the criteria of when this person posts, I get the most excited. Based 100% off that criteria and not based at all on friendships, my Top 5 Most Favorite Blogs as of this very second (and in no particular order) are:

The Pioneer Woman Cooks – Ree Drummond’s blog has multiple divisions, but I like her recipes most of all. Every recipe she’s ever posted that I’ve cooked has instantly become a family hit. That’s impressive, no?

Stuff Christians Like – This didn’t make the list because I’m a Bible thumping holy roller. Actually, if you read a few of his posts, you’ll probably realize that Jon Acuff is hilarious and actually makes fun of a lot of Christian stuff [that I also make fun of].

All & Sundry – I love her subject matter, I love her way with words, and I love that she doesn’t hold back. Almost every post makes me laugh out loud, which proves her talent. I’m pretty sure Linda and I could be friends if she didn’t live on the other side of the country.

A Whole Lot of Nothing – Angie is also very funny. And because I subscribe to so many blogs, I like that she writes often, but her posts are never “too long”. Generally speaking, long posts (regardless of author) usually get pushed aside, sometimes indefinitely, until I have more time to commit to reading them.

Hurricane Tankersley – When I say her posts are few and far between, I mean that you’re lucky to get a handful each year. But when Jessica writes, she wins my heart. I’m telling you, she could write a book one day. And I’m thinking that book will be a David Sedaris-style collection of short stories.

WHICH 5 BLOGS ARE YOUR FAVORITES? WHY? (Actually, the “why” is optional. You can just give me a list without explaining yourself.)

http://kissesfromkatie.blogspot.com/ – Best, most moving, inspiring, convicting blog ever. A beautiful young woman who gave up all her dreams of the “ideal” life surrenders her will to His. She’s now in Uganda, serving the people, taking care of her FOURTEEN adopted daughters, and writing powerfully about tragedy, faith, joy… beautiful. every time.
